Ukraine plans to increase the wholesale market price for electricity.
This is stated in the draft decision published on the website of the National Commission, carrying out state regulation in energy and utilities.
The cost will be increased from 1 April 2017 1% instead of the previously approved reduction of 5.8%.
The need to increase prices, according to the head of the National Commission, carrying out state regulation in the sphere of energy and communal services Dmitry Vovk, connected with the necessity to ensure stable operation of the Ukrainian energy system. For this purpose it is planned to purchase coal abroad.
In the draft decision the Commission States that the forecast balance of electricity in 2017, approved March 3, involves the consumption of TPPs the country’s 26 million 541,6 thousand tons of coal. Coal imports this year is expected to reach 56 million tons.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for a month extended the state of emergency measures in the energy sector. The decision adopted at the government meeting on March 16.
