The war in the long term requires skilled officers.

This was stated by President Petro Poroshenko on the issue of students of the National defense University.

“For me the army was, is and always will be one of the first priorities. The war and Russian military threat in the long term require a greater number of qualified personnel.

The experience of fighting that have been honored with the Armed forces of Ukraine, reflecting the Russian aggression, proves the Central figure of the modern battlefield remains well prepared, trained officers-head. His competence, professionalism and patriotism depends on the outcome, our victory, and the life of soldiers”, – said the head of state.

The President also reminded that approved the state Program of development of VSU through 2020.

“Its implementation will contribute to achievement of the criteria for membership in NATO,” said Poroshenko.

The President instructed the General staff and the Ministry of defence to cease fire in the ATO zone since April 1. Next week, Poroshenko hold telephone talks on the Donbas with Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande.

Russia annexed Crimea in March 2014. In the summer of that year, the armed forces of the Russian Federation began to take a direct part in the hostilities against the Armed forces of Ukraine at the Donbass.
