The UK will use new powers to freeze assets of corrupt foreign politicians.

Security Minister of the UK Ben Wallace announced that the government will use new powers to “unjustified wealth”, namely to freeze and recover property, if people can’t explain what means it was acquired, according to Reuters.

Investors from Russia, China and the Middle East have poured into London billions, buying everything from luxury real estate to entire companies. But the origin of the funds was questioned by members of the company for their transparency. It is not known how much money is laundered through Britain, but the Agency for combating crime, stated that transactions between $50 billion and $127 billion is “significantly undervalued”.

“We’re coming for you, according to your assets and make the environment in which you live, complicated,” said Wallace.

“Further, these assets can fall in the budget of the British crown, and in the other country if it can prove that the funds on this property was obtained by unlawful means, including the demonstration of a judicial decision concerning a particular person and his participation in corruption schemes”, – says Executive Director of Transparency International Ukraine Yaroslav Yurchyshyn.

It is known that in the UK owners of real estate is Dmitry Firtash, Rinat Akhmetov, Viktor Pinchuk, Gennady Bogolyubov and Igor Kolomoisky.
