The head of the state concern “Ukroboronprom” Roman Romanov took the decision to resign from office.
“I made the decision to leave his position of head of the state concern “Ukroboronprom”. The statement I wrote last year, I hope that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will support my decision,” – said in a statement Romanov, published on the official website of the state Corporation Monday, February 12.
“All the years “Ukroboronprom” media reminded me that I came to the State from the business. It’s true. And I think in life every man needs to be a period during which he is obliged to give service to your country. And these 3.5 years was my service,” he said.
Romanov thanked the staff of “Ukroboronprom”, “who believed in the revival of the defence industry of the country.”
“I am confident that my successor will continue this course. I gently tell him all the things that this transition does not appear in the efficiency of the Group”, – he noted.
Later Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on the release of Roman Romanov from the post of the General Director of state concern “Ukroboronprom”.
“To liberate the Romanov Roman Anatolyevich the General Director of State concern “Ukroboronprom”, – reads the decree №26/2018 on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Groysman at the Cabinet meeting on 27 December 2017 initiated the dismissal of the head of “Ukroboronprom” for failure to comply with the instructions of the government on repayment of debts on wages on the part of the state concern “GP “Nikolaev shipbuilding plant”.
Romanov refused the resignation and said that the situation with debt repayment demands high-quality decisions of the government, rather than finding scapegoats. According to him, the problem arose due to the termination in February 2015 compensation expenses shipyard for the maintenance of the unfinished cruiser “Ukraine” and the repeated appeals of the state Corporation to the Cabinet with proposals for resolving the situation went unanswered.
In January 2018 the Cabinet of Ministers has invited President Poroshenko to dismiss Romanov and is counting on the introduction of a new candidate recently updated by the Supervisory Board of the state Corporation, headed by the rector of the National technical University of Ukraine (nttu) “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Sikorsky” Michael Zgurovsky.
