Turchinov went to the Crimea to convince Yanukovych to resign

After escaping Viktor Yanukovych from Kiev in February 2014, the current Secretary of the NSDC Oleksandr Turchynov went with Arsen Avakov and Valentin Nalyvaychenko in the Crimea, to persuade the President to resign.

About this Turchinov said during questioning in the Obolon court of Kyiv on the case of treason Yanukovych.

“We received information that Yanukovych and some of his entourage is in the territory of the Crimea. To offer Yanukovych back to Kiev, I was sure I’d be able to convince President Yanukovych to write a letter of resignation. This would substantially simplify the situation, including political”, – said Turchinov.

But Yanukovich in Crimea, did not succeed.

Viktor Yanukovych was elected Ukraine’s President in 2010. Fled to Russia in February 2014 after the mass executions of the revolution of dignity in Kiev center.

In Ukraine against Yanukovych opened several criminal proceedings. He is accused of mass killings of citizens, misappropriation of state property, the seizure of power by unconstitutional means, the actions aimed at overthrowing the constitutional order.
